Holding 30 Years of Community—Annual Fund Kick-off & Michaelmas
A Letter from our Head of School
Head of School Kirsten Christopherson-Clark representing WSP in Tanzania at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Dear WSP Community,
Today was a joyous day as we again followed our tradition of celebrating Michaelmas in collaboration with our Annual Fund Kick-off. Michaelmas is the festival of courage, a time to contemplate ways we can find the courage and strength to see what is needed to meet the shadow side of ourselves. This year, we look to build old and new connections and foster relationships across the lines of difference.
Our annual fund theme this year, “Holding 30 Years of Community'', is inspired by our 30th anniversary. We are excited to reconnect with the countless people who have been part of the WSP community since opening our school doors in September of 1993 on the South Side. It is the people that have allowed WSP to grow and develop over the past 30 years, and we celebrate you!
In honor of this, numerous activities throughout the year have been planned to connect or reconnect us. As an example, we’ve launched our “Where’s Waldorf” campaign—an effort to connect with our alumni and special friends by asking them to take pictures with their annual fund drive gift tote bags and tag us on social media (#WSP30years, #whereswaldorf) or send us their photos, so we can share them with you. We hope these efforts will help to strengthen or make new connections among our community. We will be encouraging our current WSP families to do the same throughout the year after they receive their tote with their AFD donation. Thank you to everyone who has participated in our annual fund drive thus far. Every gift makes a difference and we are grateful for your generosity!
Additionally, we invite families to participate in our “30 Days of Grace and Gratitude” campaign, a calendar of daily prompts and attainable actions to encourage gratitude in daily life. This will take place during the month of November.
We have so much to celebrate and express gratitude for as a community. Let this year be an expression of celebration and gratitude! And may we have strength and courage to carry onward for another 30 years of Waldorf education in Pittsburgh.
Cheers to our 30th anniversary!
