On Saturday, Oct. 2, the Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Festival’s inaugural Yarn Tasting will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Churchill Valley Country Club in Pittsburgh, PA. Sample hundreds of yarns from each yarn company, make swatches and test the differences among wools, bamboo, cottons, cashmere, mohair, silk and novelties. There will be hand-dyed, variegated, solids, sport weights, lace weights, bulky, chunky, roving and so much more. Refreshments, desserts, prizes, trunk shows and giveaways are all part of this new event. All that is needed to bring are needles and a crochet hook. Spinning wheels will be available to test fibers, but you may bring your own. Space is limited, so register early. Registrations must be mailed by Sept. 25, 2010.
