Winter Fair excitement is building, and for good reason! Winter Fair in this joyful year of our school’s 20th anniversary celebrates the growth of our school by bringing all the cheer and favorite activities of festivals past, along with some special new treats. Arrive at the start of the fair to help ring in this year’s festival with holiday caroling–and catch a special performance by our own talented teachers! And be sure to book your carriage tickets early, as we have some truly magical horse-drawn carriages this year, that will transport your family to another place in time (and around the block, too)!
Guests this year will get a chance to visit Victorian Village, where they can see skilled craftspeople practicing traditional arts, and children will be invited to re-create the bustling and bright holidays of old by playing old-fashioned Parlor Games and dressing up in our Make-Believe Room.
Shopping for holiday gifts promises to be a joy this year, with the Forest Garden and Gnomes’ Garden children’s shop both open. Hand-crafted toys and delightful prizes will be available for children and adults this year through our Raffle. And be sure to bring the wee ones by the Yellow House for a cup of hot chocolate, a sweet puppet show, a craft that even tiny hands can create, and holiday circle-songs.
Giving to Winter Fair helps create a celebration to remember. If you can find the time this year to make or give something special for the fair, we need crafts, toys and grownups’ gifts for the Raffle, as well as tiny treats for the Gnomes’ Garden shop. Costume accessories and fun, old-fashioned clothes, shoes and coats will help create a delightful Dress-Up Room. If you’d like to help another way, donations will make a great difference in supporting our carriage rides.
Volunteering at Winter Fair is the most fun way to fulfill your parent Volunteer Hours! From leading crafts and activities to serving soup, there are many different ways to help. Winter Fair is one of the biggest events at our school each year, and we still need many more hands to help our Fair run smoothly. Helping hands are especially needed for crafts, parlor games, raffle, and admissions. Click here and sign up now to get your favorite activity and shift: Winter Fair 2013 Volunteer Sign-Up
If you have questions about the sign-up sheet or about volunteering, ask Abigail Sanders, Volunteer Coordinator at email@example.com.
Other ways to fulfill volunteer hours include making popcorn and cranberry strings for decorating, making or buying Raffle prizes and items for the Gnomes’ Garden, and baking 2 dozen treats for the Bake Sale.
