The third grade farm trip was huge success. Our adventurous group took off last Wednesday and drove through rain to arrive at Sunnyside Wools farm, a fiber farm in Oakland, MD, where we stayed until Friday. Thankfully, the sun appeared soon after our arrival, and we were able to enjoy the time spent with the farmers and their 60 plus animals. We were able to care for llamas, alpaca, goats, sheep, cats dogs, chickens, a miniature horse, and a donkey.
We had many adventures in feeding llamas twice our size, cleaning out the barns, and walking across the West Virginia border to a dairy farm where many children milked the cows. We even had the opportunity to visit a local woodworking studio as we made our way back to Pittsburgh.
Mr. Vince Noe, Mr. Brian Balk, Mrs. Konefal-Shaer, and Ms. Holly King all accompanied the student during this adventure. Thank you to all who made this trip such great fun!
