Announcing a Second Nursery Classroom

We are pleased to announce that we will be opening a second classroom on the first floor of our main building to accommodate all in-house applicants.  The second class will have the same ages of children, a 3-day or 5-day Nursery (with the option for extended day until 3 p.m. or 6 p.m.), and the same teacher-child ratio.  Faculty is currently engaging in a thorough hiring process to select the best teacher for the position.

Parents and students of each Nursery class will have at least three opportunities to get to know their teachers.  First, parents and students will meet their lead teacher on the Nursery Day Experience on June 8, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.  The Nursery Day Experience is for all newly entering students. It is a time to meet other children in the class and one of our two Lead Nursery teachers, plus experience a shorter version of a Nursery Day.

Secondly, all Nursery children at the Waldorf School of Pittsburgh have a “home visit” where their teacher visits them for 30-45 minutes.  Visits will occur in July and August.  Visits will be scheduled at a later date.

Finally, both Nursery classes will have a class picnic tentatively scheduled for Saturday, August 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Families are encouraged to attend this delightful event and gather with their new class.

We hope to be able to introduce our new Nursery teacher to the whole school before the end of the school year!
