End of the School Year Update

The school wishes to apologize for some confusion with the end of the school year snow make up days. The following is the correct schedule for the last week of school:

• Monday, June 7th, regular school day

• Tuesday, June 8th, regular school day, Last Day of Extended Care

• Wednesday, June 9th, regular school, Last Day of Nursery and Kindergarten

• Thursday, June 10th, Fifth Grade Graduation, 11:00 am, followed by All School Picnic,

3:00 pm dismissal

• Friday, June 11th, Last Day of School for Grades, 3:00 pm dismissal

Busses will be picking-up at 3:00 pm all week.

Club Café Concert Brought in an Eclectic Crowd

Last Friday’s Benefit Concert at Club Café brought in the full gambit of Waldorf School of Pittsburgh Community members for a fun evening of socializing with good food, drinks, and music. Full article available at

Parent Association

The Parent Association will have its next meeting on Thursday, June 3rd, 12:30 in the Parent Room. Full article available at

Three Rivers Arts Festival
Ms. Deanna Mance. Extended Care Assistant Teacher, will feature her work of intricate geometric motifs done with ink and watercolor in booth #99 at the Three Rivers Arts Festival from June 9th-13th, between 12-9pm. Full article available at


WECAN Visits Waldorf School of Pittsburgh Last Week

In October the Early Childhood Faculty applied for Full Membership to the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN.) After months of work, the Early Childhood Faculty completed a self-study that was submitted to WECAN and followed up with a three day site visit with Dzvinka Hayda from the Waldorf School in Detroit, Michigan. Fifth Grade Visits Ann Arbor for Annual Pentathlon

Surely you are familiar with the saying, “It’s all Greek to me.”  For the current Fifth Grade class, this could not be more true. Earlier in the month, they performed a Greek play and served a Greek dinner, in which funds were raised to travel to the Rudolf Steiner School of Ann Arbor, in Michigan, last Thursday, May 20th. Here the Fifth Graders they met with five other Waldorf School Fifth Grade Classes to re-enact the ancient Olympics and perform feats that were judged based on the Truth, Grace and Beauty of the athlete.

Upcoming Outreach events

Facilities Committee Doing

Nursery and Kindergarten Experience Days

Next year’s new Nursery and Kindergarten students should have received a postcard

invitation in the mail for Friday, June 11, from 9am-11:30am inviting them to a Nursery or Kindergarten Experience Day. RSVP requested. Full article available at

First Grade Experience Day on Wednesday, June 3rd

Rising First Grade students will have an opportunity to ascend the grand red staircase and experience a preview of first grade. Full article available at


Annual Fund Drive

AFD result are $28,134 or 56% of our goal.


The school is still in need of volunteers to help with grass cutting this summer.  You can come on your own schedule, work independently, and enjoy the outdoors.  Please contact Brendan Froeschl at if you are willing to help.
