New to our school for 2010-11

Several new employees have joined our staff this summer.  Please welcome them to our community.

  • Administrative Assistant

Please welcome Julianne Faria, our new Administrative Assistant to our school.  Julianne comes to us from the University of Pittsburgh where she formerly coordinated a fellowship training program in the Department of Neurobiology until 2009.  She has a degree in Fine Arts from CMU, with an emphasis in painting and ceramics.  Since then Julianne has been free-lancing as an editor, artist and interior decorator.  She will be working in the back office with the Business Manager, Laura Baker, and the Enrollment Coordinator, Erin Commendatore to keep the school running smoothly.

  • Enrollment Coordinator

Please welcome Erin Commendatore to our school as the new Enrollment Coordinator. Erin was previously working as an Admission Director at an independent school in Charlotte, NC.  She has a MA degree in Educational Counseling from the University of Phoenix and a BA in Communications and Rhetoric from the University of Pittsburgh, and has an extensive background in admissions and enrollment work. She is actively involved in the yoga community in Pittsburgh and teaches pilates and yoga at many studios in the area.

  • Extended Care Coordinator

Rebecca Rowland comes to us from the Union Presbyterian Church where she was the Director of Youth and Family Ministry.  She has an educational background in Psychology from Allegheny College and has also worked extensively as a nanny, counselor and youth director.

  • Little Friends Coordinator

Juliet Harkness, a current parent at our school, who formerly worked as our Front Office Manager until 2006.  She studied drama at the University of Pittsburgh and UC Santa Barbara.  Her childcare experience includes running a group daycare at the JCC in Mt. Lebanon.

  • Fourth Grade Teacher

We would like to welcome Paige Wiegman, a current parent at our school, who has formerly taught at lower school science at the Ellis School as well as at elementary schools in New Hampshire as our new Fourth Grade Teacher.  She obtained her bachelors degree from Oberlin University and her teacher training from Antioch University in Environmental Science.

  • Kindergarten Teacher

Christina Chirdon-Jones, the new Coral Bell Kindergarten Teacher, is a recent graduate from the Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA where she completed her Master of Arts in Teaching in May.  She was recently married this summer, enjoys running and reading and has just moved to Pittsburgh.  She is excited to be teaching at our school.
