Lavender Nursery Bread Day

“Bread day is most every child’s favorite baking day [at the Waldorf School of Pittsburgh]. Mixing the dough, kneading, and baking the bread all contribute to the eating of the bread on bread day.”

Lavender Nursery Bread Recipe

2 TBS yeast

3 cups warm water

1 tsp honey or succannat

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup oil

2 tsp salt

8 – 10 cups flour

Dissolve yeast in flour with 1tsp honey. Add about 4 cups of flour, then oil and honey. Mix and add salt. Add the rest of the flour until a good dough has formed. Knead. Make loaves or rolls. Bake at 375o for 25 -45 minutes, depending on size of buns.
