Congratulations to all members of the fifth grade class for entering into the auspicious ranks of the “Single Sock Club.” This means that every member of the class has knitted to completion at least one whole sock. Several members of the class are well on their way into finishing their second sock as well.
Making a sock is a difficult process because it involves seven distinctly different sets of directions, and many of the stitches require concentration, focus and attention to detail including ,counting rows and stitches. It’s a considerable feat! Waldorf teachers often notice changes in those students who have, for example, “turned the heel,” which is considered a fifth grade milestone.
If you see our esteemed fifth grader students, feel free to congratulate them on their accomplishments.
