Fourth & Fifth Grade Students perform at Canterbury Place

On Tuesday, June 8th, the 4th and 5th Grade students walked to Canterbury Place at Penn Avenue and Fisk Street to perform for their friends and pen-pals.

The students played as an orchestra on the 6th floor for one group of residents and afterwords, sang as a choir for a second group of residents, displaying their many talents!
This visit was the students’ second trip to Canterbury Place; in December they caroled for the residents who then wrote to thank the students. The students replied a bit later with Valentine’s Day wishes, and thus a pen-pal correspondence was born ~ a true inter-generational relationship.

We would like to extend our thanks strings teachers, Nicole Myers and Lisa Joseph, to 4th Grade teacher Anne Clair Goodman and 5th Grade teacher, Robyn Thomas, and to Bobbi-Jo Witmer at Canterbury for this importance experience for our school students. They brought joy to the residents, and smiles and kisses were exchanged. We intend to continue the relationship with our Canterbury friends next year.
