Faculty Intentions for Next Year

The Waldorf School of Pittsburgh is pleased to announce that all of our class teachers will be returning in their current positions next year. Along with this, we welcome 2 new faculty members. Ms. Jenny Lawyer will join us as the rising first grade class teacher. Many of you know Ms. Lawyer through her work in early childhood programs and as Handwork assistant. Her dedication to an artistic and musical approach to education, inspiration for fine teaching, and enthusiasm for the care of children will be a great contribution to our school. Ms. Jill Zihar will return to our community as the lead teacher of the second nursery opening this fall. Miss Jill’s dedication to Waldorf Early Childhood Education is well-known in the Waldorf School of Pittsburgh community, as she was a Lead Teacher in our Kindergarten from 2003-2007.  We are thrilled to welcome them both to our circle of teachers!

While we are welcoming new teachers, we will also be saying goodbye to some beloved teachers. Mrs. Cummings will be focusing her efforts on the school’s strings program as we grow into the upper grades. She will no longer be holding the music classes. Ms. Whitney has been a dedicated assistant in the Coral Bell Kindergarten the last 2 years and will be leaving so she can focus her attention on her studies in Library Science. She will be working at the Carnegie Library in Oakland, and we look forward to seeing her there in the future!
