Kindergarten
The Waldorf School of Pittsburgh offers a five-day program for children who are between the ages of 4 years by June 1st and six and a half years.
The curriculum of our Early Childhood Program is based upon the understanding of the developing child which acknowledges that children learn essential skills through play, a rhythmic daily routine that fosters a sense of security, and guided by loving adult caregivers who stand as role models worthy of imitation. Children transition easily into being an active member of the family-like classroom. Older children often become the helpers and caregivers of the younger ones, and learn lessons of responsibility and compassion.
The Kindergarten child, then, is given the opportunity to develop good social and emotional skills, as well as strong foundational skills for the academic learning which will take place in Grade 1.
Please note!
Kindergarten children are expected to be toilet-trained for placement into the class.
