Tuesdays are always a special day at Little Friends. It is bread day, and we are visited by the marvelous Ms. Renee who presents a lovely, seasonally appropriate puppet show to the delight of all our Little Friends. We are so grateful for her talents.

Waldorf Summer Camp Workshops News!

The Waldorf Summer Camp Grades Workshops are being offered throughout the summer for Grades 2 – 7.  Experience the exciting worlds of pottery, circus, theater, yoga, woodworking and more! The School is looking for a Music Teacher


The Waldorf School of Pittsburgh is seeking an enthusiastic music teacher for grades one through seven for the school year 2012-2013.  Candidates should have a BA, preferably in music or in education, a good singing voice, be open to working collaboratively with colleagues, and be open to working with the pedagogy and curriculum unique to a Waldorf School.  Position is 7-10 hours/week.  Applications must have a current resume, cover letter, and list of three references.

New Front Office Manger

The Front Office Hiring Committee and the Administration of the Waldorf School of Pittsburgh are happy to announce that the position of Front Office Manager has been filled by Hilary Penigar.  Ms. Hilary has a degree in Children’s Literature from the University of Pittsburgh, and is currently serving as the Gallery Attendant at Gallery 4 and the House Manager for the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater.  She is an avid knitter, and also has skills in website design and newsletter writing.  She has expressed a genuine desire to join our school community and is very attracted to the principles of Waldorf Education.  In addition, she has some previous experience working with children of all ages organizing children’s birthday parties at Joanne’s Fabrics.

Lizz Leonard, our current Front Office Manager will leave the position after the delivery of her second child, but for now will remain in the Front Office for the month of May.  Hilary will begin to train with Lizz over the next few weeks and will be in the Front Office from time to time over the next few weeks.

The Shoebox Tour is back

The Shoebox Tour will return to the Waldorf School of Pittsburgh tomorrow, Saturday May 12th for the third year. A juggling workshop is a new addition this year to the all ages, family-friendly performance and school fundraiser – half of the performance proceeds benefit the school.

A Juggling workshop is to be held from 3:00-4:30 pm in the Auditorium and is limited to 16 people, ages 9 and up at $15 per person. Participants are encouraged to bring their own juggling balls or tennis balls (some balls will be available to use).

The Shoebox Tour performance at 6:00pm will be $10 per adult, $5 for children 12 and under, and children 2 and under are free.

The Shoebox Tour America 2012 performance will be approximately 60 minutes and features jugglers Wes Peden and Jay Gilligan with live original soundtrack by Erik Nilsson.

Expansion Q&A before the Annual Children’s Festival tonight


The Annual Children’s Festival and Student Performances will be held tonight at 7:00 pm in the Auditorium. Students should arrive a half an hour early and be dressed presentably (no jeans.) During this half hour prior to the festival, the school’s Expansion Coordinator, Kirsten Christopherson-Clark, will host a brief Expansion Update and Q&A for parents. Parents and community members are highly encouraged to join Ms. Christopherson-Clark in the Chapel at 6:30 pm for this presentation and to come armed with any questions you may have about the expansion of our school. This brief presentation will prove to be both enlightening and informative for all those who attend.
