Thank you for kicking-off Screen Free Week in such a successful way at our Book Fair at Barnes and Noble on April 25. Many families enjoyed the activities at the store including finger knitting with Miss Jenny and Ms. Uram, the 5th grade puppet show of “Rama & Sita”, and the strings performance. The Waldorf juice-tea at the cafe brought back memories of Morning Garden to many grades children too!
Although we won’t know our total raised for playground equipment for two more weeks, we are fairly confident we reached our target goal! Additionally, parents and grandparents purchased close to 40 books from our the teachers “wish list” for the 7th and 8th grade expansion! Barnes and Noble enjoyed our school so much they also donated 20 books of The Book Thief for the 7th/8th grade.
Finally, Barnes and Noble invites all students that are in grade 1-6 to participate in their summer reading program. Read 8 books, track them in their reading journal, bring your completed journal to the store in Fox Chapel, and receive a free book between May 22nd and September 4, 2012. A single page journal will go out with students today. Please check their backpacks. Happy reading!
