Dear friends and families of the Waldorf School of Pittsburgh,
As our school expands to include an upper elementary school of sixth, seventh and eighth grades, we ask that you join this endeavor with your full support of the 2010-2011 Waldorf School of Pittsburgh Annual Fund Drive.
Our school continues to provide the most extraordinary education available in Allegheny County, one that is based on a profound understanding of the stages of child development and is infused with creativity and inspiration. A Waldorf education awakens the potential in each student, developing responsible, independent, and successful human beings.
To commence the 2010-11 school year, the Middle School Expansion committee presented an expansion plan to the upper elementary grades at the All-Community Meeting on October 8th. The Committee worked over the summer to bring the expansion to the next stage and provided an overview of the space requirements and the necessary finances. Sixth grade will begin at our school in fall 2011, and the structural plans are in place to bring all of our students to the eighth grade. You will find enclosed with this letter our Annual Report detailing our achievements, including the experiences of our students, faculty, and community during the 2009-2010 school year.
Our school needs your financial support now, more than ever, to bring these tremendous plans to life. Additionally, our tuition income simply does not cover the expense of our creative curriculum and fixed operational costs. We rely on your financial generosity and community participation to bring this amazing learning environment to life for our children.
The goal of the 2010-2011 annual fund drive is to raise $50,000.00, and every gift is appreciated. We do, however, request that you be as generous as possible so that we can grow our school into the finest Waldorf School possible. Below are some examples of what your donation would mean to our school:
• a $45 donation will obtain one pentatonic flute
• a $100 donation pays for a Kindergarten snack for one child for one year
• a $300 donation will purchase a new ergonomically correct desk and chair
• a $335 donation pays for Spanish or Russian lessons for one child for one year
• a $3,600 donation provides one year of teacher training support
• a $5,000 donation will pay for a six-week block of eurythmy instruction, including the piano accompanist
Please be advised that your contribution to the annual fund of the Waldorf School of Pittsburgh is tax deductible for Federal Income Tax purposes.
We need each of you to continue to contribute in order to empower our children with an education that gives clarity of thought, a caring heart, and confidence to initiate change. On behalf of the children, faculty, staff and Board of Trustees, we thank you for your continued support and hope you will share with us in our great future.
Thank you for your support,
Alexandra Gruskos, Esquire
President of the Board of Trustees
